Obituary of Vera Blanche Jackson

Vera Blanche Jackson (nee Crouse) Age 84 of Bridgewater passed away on Wednesday September 16, 2015 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Conquerall Bank, she was the daughter of the late James and Nellie (Dalrymple) Crouse. Vera is survived by her son Tom (Chris Charlton) Jackson, Ottawa; sister Grace (Linburn) Crouse, Charleston; brother Roy (Carolyn) Crouse, Pleasantville; several nieces and nephews and "guardian angel" Maryann Macintosh. She was predeceased by her husband Carl; brother James Crouse and half-siblings Lawrence Crouse, Russell Crouse, Lottie Taylor and Pauline Haines. As a clerk in the RCAF, Vera was stationed in Europe and many bases across Canada with her husband Carl. Upon retirement they settled in Bridgewater in order to be close to her family. After her son was old enough, Vera became a cook and worked in restaurants in Mahone Bay and Bridgewater as well as a number of years at Lahave Manor. She loved to spend time with family and friends at her cottage at Lake Mushamush and was active over the years on many community organizations such as Kiwanis, TOPS, Meals on Wheels, and the Royal Canadian Legion. Vera had a kind heart and a tough spirit and truly did things her own way. Visitation will be held 2:00 to 4:00 P.M., Sunday September 20, in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater with a public Legion Tribute Service at 2:00 P.M. Funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday September 21 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bridgewater, Rev. Willis Ott officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Conquerall Bank. Family flowers only, please. Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Society.
