Obituary of George Leaman McCarthy

George Leaman McCarthy 90, of Italy Cross, Lunenburg County, passed away on February 27th, 2015 at South Shore Regional Hospital. Born July 21, 1924 in Somerset, Lunenburg County he was a son of the late George Solomon McCarthy and the late Jessie Menson (Herman) McCarthy. He was also pre-deceased by 4 of his brothers, Cecil, Henry, Emerson and Arthur, as well as 4 sisters, Jennie, Gladys, Esther and Marina, as well as his infant son Michael. He survived by his 4 children, Sheila (Hebbs Cross), Isabelle (Bridgewater), Roger (Conquerall Mills), Marie (Lower Branch)as well as 7 grand-children Lisa (Chester), Chris (Hebbville), Rose (Bridgewater), Alena (Italy Cross), Natasha (Bridgewater), Brittany (Quebec) and Eli (Lower Branch) and many great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He also survived by his 3 sisters, Francis Harmon (Hebbs Cross), Mary Dill (Bridgewater), Una Corkum (Bridgewater) and 2 brothers, Harold (Somerset) and Gordon (Wileville). He was retired from his job working for the Department of Highways and loved spending his time working in the woods. He could often be found working around the yard with his tractor to pass his time and keep busy, or inside cooking meals he enjoyed. Grave side service for family and friends will be announced at a later date. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
