Obituary of Mary Margaret McNeil

Mary Margaret McNeil (Keating) Passed away peacefully January 29, 2015 at Hillside Pines Home for Special Care, Bridgewater in her 98th year. Born May 9, 1917 in The Block Port au Port, Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late James William Keating and Mary Julia Hynes. She was the last surviving member of her family. She was a long time resident of Dominion, Cape Breton and Sydney River, Cape Breton and spent the last ten years in Bridgewater. Margaret was a talented and accomplished seamstress. She was an active member of the CWL for more than 60 years and will be remembered for her strong faith. She is survived by her children; Corrine (Al) MacKay, Oshawa ON; Keating (Leona), Summerside PEI; Charlene ( Gerry) Nixon, Ottawa ON; Paul (Pam), Eagenville ON; Catherine Julia (Michael) Cullen, Dartmouth; Joseph (Gaylene Pittman), Labrador City, Nfld; Carmelitta (Michael) McNeil, Caledonia; Colina McNeil, Coldbrook; seventeen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles William McNeil; son, Donald and his wife Doreen MacIntyre; brothers, Harold, Hynes, Cyril, Raymond and Richard; sisters, Marion MacDonald, Mildred Aubert, Kathleen MacIntosh and Moia Kelliher. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral to be held at Immaculate Conception Parish, Bridgeport, Cape Breton at a later date under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. Memorial donations may be made to Hillside Pines Home for Special Care, St. Joseph Parish, Bridgewater, Immaculate Conception Parish, Bridgeport or Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Sydney River.
