Obituary of Madeline Frances Powe
Madeline "Rhodie" Frances Powe (Rhodenizer)
Age 93, of Bridgewater, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 in Ridgewood Assisted Living, Bridgewater. Born in Bridgewater on May 12, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Amos and Mary (Getson) Rhodenizer. Madeline served in the RCAF – Women’s Division, providing service to the meteorology office in Halifax where she met her husband, Norman, who passed away in June 1989. Madeline and Norman resided in Lachine, Quebec until retirement in September 1977 when they felt drawn back to Nova Scotia where they settle in LaHave. Madeline was much loved within her community, always there with a smile and generous helping hand. She was a loving mother to Gregory (Debra) Powe and Janet (Neil) Ashby and grandmother to Steven and Katy and to Bobby who passed away in 2001. Service of Remembrance will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, October 3 in St. James’ Anglican Church, LaHave with Rev. Oliver Osmond officiating. Interment will take place in Ontario at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the IWK Children’s Hospital, Canadian Cancer Society or Alzheimers Society of Nova Scotia.
