Obituary of Goldie Faye Russell

Goldie Faye Russell Age 89, of Bible Hill, Colchester Co., formerly of New Germany, Lunenburg Co. The Lord took our “dear Faye” to her eternal home peacefully in her sleep, on Thursday, October 29, 2015 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in New Germany, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Varner and Violet (Emino) Varner Turner. Faye was a faithful and dedicated member of St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany, serving for many years as assistant treasurer, singing in the choir, former ACW and the altar guild. Surviving are her son, David (Linda) Russell, Truro; grandsons, Steven (Laura) Russell, Matthew and Jonathan, all of Truro, who all have been there for her until God decided to take her home; great grandchildren, Gage and Alexis, who will greatly miss Nanny Russell; brothers, Maynard (Judy) Varner, New Germany; Basil (Yvonne) Varner, Timberlea; sisters-in-law, Betty Ann Merriam and Joan Russell; brother-in-law, Lindsay Russell, also several special nieces, nephews and numerous friends that she spoke to weekly. Faye had so many friends and family that remained in close contact with her over her lifetime, right up to the present. She was predeceased by her husband, Ray Hallet Russell. Faye worked for many years in the family business, Russell ‘s Dry Goods and Footwear, New Germany. She ended her working career with Langille’s Plumbing and Heating, Bridgewater. Faye expressed her spirituality in three words “faith”, “love” and “hope”, that’s how she lived her life, remaining faithful to her church, sharing her endless love with her family and friends at many family gatherings and hoping that someday she would have eternal life and be with her soul mate, Ray. Visitation for family and friends will be 2-4 p.m., Monday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 route 10, New Germany. Service of Remembrance will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 3, in St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, Rev. Steven Kristenson and Rev. Catherine Robar officiating. A family interment will follow in the church cemetery. Celebration of our “dear Faye’s” life will continue at a reception in the church hall following the service.
