Obituary of Mansfield Bernard Selig
Mansfield Bernard Selig
Age 72, of Voglers Cove, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Mansfield was the son of the late Lauriel and Myrtle (Conrad) Selig. He is survived by his son, David (Nikki) Selig, Branch LaHave; daughter, Heather (Ian) Goldsmith, Bridgewater; granddaughter, Jaden Selig; grandson, Nolan Goldsmith; nephew, Carmen (Colleen) Conrad and very loving companion, Myrtle Merry. He is predeceased by his parents and sister, Florence. Mansfield was born in and lived his whole life in Voglers Cove, when he wasn't at sea. He started his fishing career at age 19. He fished with National Sea, scallop draggers out of Digby and spent many years before his retirement at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography as a deckhand, which he really enjoyed. Mansfield loved Newfoundland music, playing cards, digging clams, fishing and, of course, deer hunting. He made countless trips down the back road looking for deer! He will be forever missed by his family and friends. There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request. Service of remembrance will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 23 in Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater. Rev. Oliver Osmond officiating. Family interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Cherry Hill.
