Obituary of Donald Kitchener Sisk

Donald Kitchener Sisk Died peacefully January 4, 2015 at the Veteran’s Unit at the Fisherman Memorial Hospital in Lunenburg, age 97. Born December 6, 1917 in Springhill NS, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was the son of the late Ed & Mimie Mercy (Mooring) Sisk. As a veteran of WWII he served overseas with the West Nova’s & Cape Breton Highlanders in England, Scotland, North Africa and Sicily. Following the war; he made his home in Bridgewater NS and worked as a mechanic with Silver’s Garage and with SSRSB as a school bus superintendent until his retirement. Donald is survived by daughters Linda Trainer, Mermaid, PE; Pat (George) Fralic, Brooklyn, NS and stepson Ivan Hatt, Gold River, NS. He was “Grampy Don” to grandchildren Kelly, Lindsay, Cara & Geoff; great grandchildren Bradyn, Rylan and Chale and “Poppy” to several step grand & great grandchildren as well as one niece and many nephews. He was predeceased by wives Norma (Hanley) Sisk and Sylvia (Hatt) Sisk; sisters Ola MacIvor, Jessie Smith and Hally Farnell; nephew Donald Farnell and niece Leona Smith. By personal request there will be no visitation. A private family graveside service will be held in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater at a later date. Donations may be made to the Veteran’s Unit of the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital in Lunenburg or charity of one’s choice. Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.
