Obituary of Eric Oscar Wilson
Eric Oscar Wilson
Age 95, of East Dalhousie, Annapolis Co., passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2015 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, surrounded by his family. Eric was born in East Dalhousie, to the late Robert and Grace (Brown) Wilson. In his earlier years, Eric worked various odd jobs in the community and surrounding areas along with working his farm and Christmas tree lot. In 1942 Eric joined the Canadian Armed Forces, Pictou Highlanders and served in the North Atlantic area also the Caribbean area doing sentry duty in Nassau. Eric also worked with the Department of Highways for 24 years as section foreman. In 1951, he married Marion Zwicker of Parkdale. He was a regular attendant of the East Dalhousie Baptist Church, a former volunteer fire fighter for the Springfield District Fire Department. Eric was an avid community member, a friend to all and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Eric loved life and always put family and friends first. Surviving are his sons, Arthur (Janice) Wilson, East Dalhousie; Maynard (Cathy) Wilson, Meisners Section; Jocelyn (Paul) Mailman, Timberlea; grandchildren, Rhonda Morris, Rayanne (Jason) Guidry, Ryan Wilson, Tyler Wilson; great grandchildren, Kaylea, Devon and Taylor Morris. He was predeceased by wife Marion of 62 years; brother, Ainsley and a half-sister Dyllis. Visitation for family and friends will be held 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 route 10, New Germany. Funeral service 11 a.m., Thursday in East Dalhousie Baptist Church, East Dalhousie. Rev. Lloyd Gillieo officiating. A private family burial will follow in East Dalhousie Baptist Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations may be made to the Annapolis County VON or the charity of choice.
