Obituary of John Murray Calcott

John Murray Calcott Age 94, passed away October 29th, 2016 in the Veteran’s Unit at Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Melita, Manitoba on June 13th, 1922, he was the son of the late Manly John Dyson Calcott and Mabel Irene Lindsay. During the Second World War he served as a bomber pilot. He graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph and his career took him to Charlottetown PEI where he met his wife June. They later moved to Berwick, NS where they raised their family. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy June (Bryanton); brother Lindsay “Ted” Calcott, sisters Marion Lord and Eleanor Fewster. His thoughtful, respectful and grateful personal qualities were reflected in the way he lived his life. He had many interests and talents and received great enjoyment from the time he spent at his cottage in Toney River. He is survived by his daughters Rhian (Ken Thomas), Bridgewater, Rhonda, Bedford; sons John (Elaine Ross), Toronto, Gregg, Calgary; grandchildren Owen Thomas (Kayla), Ethan Thomas, Isaac Thomas, Bronwen Thomas, Meredith Calcott, Sam Calcott and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. A family service will be held at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Valley, PEI on Sunday November 6th 2016 at 1pm.
