Obituary of Judith Irma Cross

Judith Irma Cross The family of Judith Cross is deeply saddened by her passing September 19, 2016 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, at the age of 69. Born in North Sydney, the daughter of Mildred and Melvin Gallop, she is survived by her husband David, son Ben (Amy) Slauenwhite, daughter Laura (Frank) Roche, four grandchildren Brianne and Owen Slauenwhite, and Brandon and Sydney Roche, sister Linda Gallop, brothers Donald (Melanie) Gallop and Alan Gallop, and niece Anne Gallop. Judith married David on December 27, 2001 and moved to Newcombville from Mirimichi, NB where she had lived for 17 years and worked as a teacher. She went back to school and completed her Bachelor of Education degree in 1999. Her family was of prime importance to her. She was proud of her big brothers Don and Alan as well as her younger sister Linda who, over the last 18 months visited almost every week bringing flowers. Judith liked to visit Don and Melanie at their summer residence in Baddeck and would make it a point to try and be there when Anne was home on vacation. As the disease Multi system Atrophy wracked her body (not her mind) over several years, she always perked up when she heard that Ben, Amy and the kids were coming or that Laura, Frank and children were going to visit. Judith was quite particular about her appearance. She liked nice clothes and appreciated being complimented on her attire. She went on short shopping trips right up to the last month even though it was a challenge for her, with the help of her good friend Amy Selig and the folks at Hillside Pines on their bus. Special thanks to Pastor Stephen Kristenson for his numerous visits and support, also to the neighbours and friends for their expressions of love, concern and kindness, including the exceptional care given at a difficult time by Amy Selig, Ann Faulkner and all the folks at Hillside Pines. Cremation has taken place under the direction of C. F. Sweeny’s Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 7 – 9 pm at Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater and a funeral service will be held Friday, September 23, 2016 at 11 am at All Saints Lutheran Church, 3530 Highway 325, Newcombville NS with Pastor Stephen Kristenson officiating, followed by a reception. There will be a private family burial at Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater, family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to All Saints Lutheran Church, Newcombville or a charity of your choice.
