Joan Dianne Crouse
Age 65, of Bridgewater, Lunenburg County, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 13, 2016 in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Lower Northfield, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Marjorie (Selig) Meisner. Joan will be forever remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She was very artistic and creative in various forms of fabric design and painting. She was well known as the “snowfolk” lady at many craft shows throughout the local area. Together with her husband Reid, they created hundreds of wooden snow people which made their way into many people’s homes throughout the Maritimes and beyond. She was also skilled at sewing and quilting and produced many beautifully designed fabric wall hangings. Beyond her love of art, she was also a lifetime member of the Maritime Motorcycle Touring Association. She and Reid were avid bikers and toured many provinces and states, the highlight being a trip Nashville with their biker friends, Kenny and Cheryl. Joan's career began as a legal secretary at several law firms which evolved into a position as Court Reporter with Family Court in Bridgewater, which she held for many years. She was also a Justice of the Peace and performed numerous wedding ceremonies over the years. One of her great prides was the opportunity to officiate the marriages of her brother Ralph and later her son Andrew and her grandson Daniel. She is survived by her devoted husband Reid, son Andrew Corkum (Tammy), grandsons Daniel (Emily), Nathan and Adam, son Mike Corkum (Trudy), grandsons Ashtin (Sarah) and Colby (Emily), stepsons Steven Crouse (Sylvia), Michael Crouse (Tanya), brother Ronald Meisner (Helen), sisters Marilyn Joudrey, Helen Eisnor (Gary), brother-in-law Ronnie Crouse, sisters-in-law Daisy Meisner, Marie Meisner and Linda Veinot, numerous nieces and nephews.
