Obituary of James Gerald Eisenhauer

James Gerald Eisenhauer Apr. 20, 1933 – Jan. 27, 2016 Jimmy was a real South Shore lad who always had time for people, whether to play a hand of crib, spin a yarn or give wise advice if requested. His sharp mind was an encyclopedia of local knowledge that stayed with him to the end. Son of the late William A. and Mildred (Leech) Eisenhauer. Predeceased by loving wife Nita Younis Eisenhauer and sister, Joan Prest. Survived by brother William (Bill), sister Sarah (Sally) Carlyle, son Bill (Gabriela Hirt), daughters Penni and Tanya (Richard Heaps), and many nieces and nephews. He attended Kings Collegiate School (1945-51), Kings College, Halifax and Maritime Business College. He began his business career in Halifax in the food brokerage business. He returned to Bridgewater to open Bowl-More Lanes in 1960 and expanded the business throughout the Maritimes. Later he was involved in several ventures from mobile home sales and residential development to real estate and property management in the Bridgewater area. He and Nita enjoyed their retirement at Crescent Beach, Lunenburg County. Jim loved sports especially hockey and curling, representing the Bridgewater Curling Club at the provincial men’s championship. He particularly enjoyed spending many winters in Victoria, BC visiting his grandchildren, Sol and Leonie, passing on the Eisenhauer family stories and cheering them on at the soccer pitch or the local school stage. Funeral Service will be held on Monday February 1 at 1 p.m. at St. Michael’s Anglican Church, Petite Riviere, with a reception to follow at the Petite Fire Hall. If you wish, memorial gifts in Jim’s name may be directed to Victorian Order of Nurses – Lunenburg County or Friends of Crescent Beach, Box 148, LaHave, NS B0R 1C0.
