Obituary of Christine Pamenter Everill

Christine Pamenter Everill Age 70 of West LaHave passed away peacefully on August 22, 2016 at South Shore Regional Hospital with her loving husband Larry by her side. She was the daughter of the late Norman (Hammie) and Laura Hamilton. She is survived by her first and only love, husband Larry, son Christopher (Carla), of Waverley; daughters Gillian (Jason) of Chester; and Lyndsay (Peter) of Coldbrook, and grandchildren Katherine, Gertran, Gwenyth, James, Jessie, Emilia and Sadie. Also surviving are brothers Frank (Holly) and David (Sandra). Graduating as a registered nurse from Halifax Children’s Hospital in 1967, she and Larry married two weeks later and started their lives together in Montreal. Subsequently they lived in Halifax, Truro, Summerside, Bathurst, Bridgewater, New Minas and their home in West LaHave for the past 19 years. Chris had many interests. As a teen she was a competitive badminton player. She had many hobbies over the years, and in particular was a celebrated rug hooker. She loved golf, bridge, her golf buddies, her bridge clubs, her craft group, and her nursing alumni who reunite every five years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend. She finally lost her third battle with cancer over a ten year period, throughout which she demonstrated phenomenal strength and courage, and never once uttered a word of self- pity. Throughout her life, she lit up every room she entered and sprinkled joy like pixie dust everywhere she went. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation or service. A celebration of life will be held at the Petite Riviere Vineyards, Crousetown on Friday, September 2nd from 2 to 4 pm. It was her wish that this be a very casual informal gathering for all who wish to attend to celebrate together and share a memory or two. There will be a scrapbook available should anyone wish to contribute a photo or story. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Weagle, Dr. McNally and Dr. Fraser. Thanks also to Irene Hirtle and the palliative care team. And thanks are hardly adequate for the exemplary care and compassion Chris received from the outstanding nursing staff at SSRH third floor med./surg. Unit. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Health Services Foundation of the South Shore. Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.
