Obituary of Phillip Donald Haines

Phillip Donald Haines Phillip Donald Haines passed away suddenly on May 1, 2016 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Phil was born Feb 15, 1957 in Bridgewater, NS and was a lifelong resident; having adventures to Calgary to participate in a ball hockey tournament and to Vancouver for Expo 86. He touched many lives from his Sunday school days through Vocational School, his Country Home Woodworks business, his passions of softball, ice hockey and ball hockey, and being a good neighbour, loving brother and friend. Phil was a skilled wood worker who designed and crafted furniture, globe stands, and many decorative items which adorn homes from Nova Scotia to British Columbia. He loved his home, his family, friends and neighbours. He thrived on company, always had time for a conversation, seeing and speaking only the good and positive in everyone. He shared the bounty of his garden with whomever came by for a visit. If you were in need of something and he had it to give, he did. Phil adored animals of all types and had several well-loved, spoiled pets. His smile and laugh would light up and fill a room. Phil is predeceased by his father, Donald Rex Haines and mother, Naomi Winnifred Haines (Hamm). He is survived and sadly missed by his sister, Norene Haines and her husband, Toivo Kiidumae of Vancouver, BC…as well as host of long-term friends. Phil is in his heaven now working on wooden projects with Dad, having tea with Mom, ice skating and participating in sports and playing with his dogs. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. There will be no visitation by request. A Celebration of Life will be held 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday May 12 in the Bridgewater Fire Hall, Dominion Street. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions of Phil may be made to SHAID Animal shelter.
