Edna Elaine Landry
Age 89, passed away peacefully November 9, 2016 at Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital in Lunenburg. Born on Tancook Island, she was the youngest daughter of Howard and Olive Levy. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Mom was a long-standing member of West End United Baptist Church, Halifax and later of the Bridgewater Baptist Church. She served for many years on the Executive of the Christian Women’s Club in Halifax. Mom was a devoted teacher beginning her career in Spry Bay, Porter’s Lake, and retiring from Dalhousie School in Purcell’s Cove, Halifax. She is survived by her sister, Bernice Black, Middleton; son, Brian (Marilyn), Beaverbank; daughter, Kathy Archibald (Graham), Bridgewater; son, Jim (Eva) Halifax; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her dear daughter, Donna Carter (John) and her loving husband Lawrence. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Ridgewood Retirement Home for their compassionate care over the past two years, and to the staff of the ALC unit at Fisherman’s Memorial for their care over the last few weeks. A celebration service of her life will be held on Wednesday, November 23 at 1:00 p.m., at Bridgewater Baptist Church, 564 Glen Allen Dr., Bridgewater, the Rev. Dr. Brian McArthur officiating. A reception and family visitation will directly follow the service. A family internment will be held at Oakridge Memorial Gardens in Lower Sackville on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at 11:00 am. Family flowers only and donations in her memory can be made to the Bridgewater Baptist Church Memorial fund or charity of choice.
