Obituary of Murray Melrose Oakes

Murray Melrose (Joey) Oakes, Jr. Age 72, Branch LaHave, Lunenburg Co., passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 20, 2016. Born in Shelburne, he was the son of the late Murray Oakes Sr. (Hebb’s Cross) and Myrna Adelia Acker (Shelburne). He is survived by daughter Trina (Frank) Young, Branch LaHave; son Ryan (Kim) Oakes, Hebbville; grandson Jordan Young, Aunt Dorothy (Jim) Newell, Waterloo, ON; and half-sister Margaret Stewart, Hebb’s Cross. He was predeceased by his wife Lucille Oakes. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 24, 2016 from 2—4 pm at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater and where the service will be held on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 11 am, Rev. Willis Ott officiating. Private burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, Branch LaHave. Family flowers only.
