Obituary of Joyce Eileen Oickle

Joyce Eileen Oickle It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our mother at the age of 84 on Monday, January 25, 2016 at her daughter’s home in The Forties with her daughter by her side. Born in Stanburne, she was a daughter of the late William Ford and Opal Myrle (Carver) Jodrey. She was a member of St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany. She loved plants and flowers of all kinds and spent countless hours nurturing and watching them grow which brought her great pleasure. She enjoyed a good yard sale always looking for that special treasure. She was kind and gentle in nature and dedicated her life to being a loving wife and mother to her husband and children. Surviving are daughters, Sharon (Ronald) Everest, Yarmouth; Deborah (Thomas) Reeves, The Forties; sons, Gary (Marie), Dartmouth; Larry (Liana), Union Square; Terry (Cynthia), and Neil, all of Stanburne; Noel, Berwick; grandchildren, Zackery, Steven, Alicia, Melanie, Adam, Corey, Mark, Emily, Bobby, Maggie, Cassey and Jessie; 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Beulah (Leigh) Dauphinee, West Northfield; Alice Durling, Estella DeLong, both of Barss Corner; Phyllis (Mervin) Ritcey, Baker Settlement; Gladys Wentzell, New Germany; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Kendall Samuel Oickle; sisters, Ruby Varner, Alma Daurey, Doris Neily, Hilda Joudrey; brothers, Hudson, Oakley, Garnet and Tracy. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, January 27 in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 route 10, New Germany. Service to Celebrate Joyce’s life will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, January 28, 2016 in St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church with Rev. Catherine Robar officiating. Private family interment will follow in Epworth Cemetery, New Germany. Family flowers only please, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or charity of choice.
