Obituary of Murray Albert Rhodenizer
Murray Albert Rhodenizer
Age 87 of Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co., passed away peacefully in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater on Saturday, April 30, 2016. Born in Cookville, he was a son of the late Mark and Vivian (Rafuse) Rhodenizer. Murray never backed down from new ventures. He wore many hats throughout his life; one of a plumber, swine farmer, Christmas tree hobby farmer, land owner and poultry farmer. He was the original owner and operator of the Liverpool Horse Shoe Beverage Room and Grill and part owner of the Bridgewater Top'sl Beverage Room and Grill, Bridgewater. He also had a career as an Engineer for CNR, where he brought the train from Halifax, home to Bridgewater after 35 years of work and stepped off towards his retirement, his two daughters accompanied him on the journey. His interests over the years were as vast as the many hats he wore. In retirement he spent years traveling throughout the Caribbean with his wife Marjorie and family. He enjoyed snowmobiling, riding his ATV, his winter cottage in East Dalhousie, fishing at Keji, hunting, travelling with his 5th wheeler throughout Eastern Canada/USA, and driving the roads of his wood land. Most importantly he cherished his cottage on Big Mush a Mush, where he boated, water-skied, and enjoyed sitting on his deck over-looking the waters with a newspaper in hand. He was a long-time member of the Mic Mac RodnGun Club having served three terms as President; held membership in the Pistol club, Legion and Jaycees. He was a long-time supporter of the Liberal party. Our Dad and Grampy was the rock of our family and the glue that held us together. He will be dearly missed by all. He is survived by his two daughters, Linda (Kevin) Curran, Tantallon; Nancy (John) Rhodenizer-Smith, Pinegrove; grandchildren, Farrah Lynn Curran (Kevin Bevis), Mark Smith (Staci Fudge), Luke Smith (Emily Statton); sisters-in-law, Doreen Rhodenizer and Pauline Rhodenizer; many nieces and nephews. Murray dealt with challenges face on but none was harder than the one of losing his dear wife Marjorie on January 22, 2016, he is also predeceased by brother, Douglas; half-brothers, Arthur and Russel Rhodenizer, Kermit and Vincent Young. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.
