Obituary of Roland Spencer Snyder

Roland Spencer Snyder 83, (“Bubby”) of Upper Northfield passed away at Mahone Nursing Home on Saturday August 20, 2016. Born in Simpsons Corner, April 11, 1933, he was a son of the late Ira and Verna (Hyson) Snyder. Surviving are his sons James (Cynthia) New Canada; Jerry (Debbie) Lower Sackville; three grandsons, Matthew and Andrew, Bridgewater and Joel, Lower Sackville; Sister Shirley (Ellison) Leary, Simpsons Corner; Brothers Allen (Gail) Snyder; Bryden (Phyllis) Snyder, all of Watford as well as nieces and nephews. Roland was predeceased by his Brothers; Russell and Maxwell Snyder, Sisters Harriett and Verna Snyder, Maxine Nowe, Irene Emino, Marion Hill, nieces Maryanne Saulnier and Dianne Eisener and daughter Joanne Snyder. Roland was an extremely hard worker as a carpenter and was very dedicated in every way to his family. He received first place in all of our hearts for being the BEST husband, Dad, Papa, Father-in-Law and friend. Dad loved eating out, drives, grapenut ice-cream, and winning at playing cards. He spent the last two years of his life at Mahone Nursing Home where he received care from a staff that is second to none and were his second family. Roland was predeceased by his wife, Freda Mae Snyder, 78, of Upper Northfield who passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012 in Bridgewater. Born Aug. 28, 1934, in Upper Northfield, she was the daughter of the late Wilbert and Lois (Joudrey) Lohnes. At the time of her death, she was survived by her husband of 56 years, Roland,; one sister Hilda Keddy, Berwick; sons James (Cynthia) Snyder, Bridgewater; Jerry (Debbie) Snyder, Lower Sackville, and three grandsons, Matthew and Andrew, Bridgewater and Joel, Lower Sackville. She was predeceased by daughter Joanne and ten sisters and brothers. Freda worked extremely hard all her life, and was very dedicated in every way to her family. She received first place in all of our hearts for being the BEST wife, Mom, Nanny, Mother-in-Law and friend. She loved eating out, drives, coffee ice-cream, and winning at playing cards. She spent the last three years of her life at Hillside Pines, Bridgewater. No flowers by request. There will be a Celebration of the lives of Roland and Freda Snyder at Sweeney’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater on Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 7-9 pm. A private, both families only, memorial service for Freda and Roland will be held at a later date. Arrangements and cremations have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.
