Obituary of Leon Charles Whynot
Leon Charles Whynot
Age 90, Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Branch LaHave, he was a son of the late Charles and Hazel (Mailman) Whynot. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas with the Royal Canadian Army. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bridgewater; life-long member of the Royal Canadian Legion, branch 24, Bridgewater, he was also active with the Kiwanis Club, Senior Wheels, Bridgewater Curling Club and Meals on Wheels. Surviving are his wife, Vivian Grace (Publicover) Whynot; son, Dwight (Cathy) Whynot, Kentville; his two precious grandchildren, Samantha Whynot and Morgan Whynot; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Marie Labrie and Merinda Maughan. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m., Monday, January 11 in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater, where a public legion tribute service will begin at 6 p.m. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 12 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bridgewater with Rev. Paul Jensen officiating and Rev. Willis Ott assisting. Private family interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Family flowers only, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or charity of choice.
