Shirley Madeline Conrad
Age 81, Broad Cove, Lunenburg Co., passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2017 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Robert P. and Olive E. (Lively) Rolffe. Shirley was a loving mother, supportive wife and proud grandmother and great grandmother. Shirley was a hard working active member of the congregation of St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Broad Cove, and also sang in the choir. Surviving are her son, Bernard Robert (Elizabeth) Conrad, Broad Cove; daughter, Margo Elaine (Gary) Andersen, Broad Cove; grandchildren, Elsa Leigh Conrad (Thomas Lowe), Springfield; Nathan Conrad, Bridgewater; Derek Gary (Tara) Andersen, Seattle, WA.; and the apple of her eye, her great-granddaughter, Alivia Rose Lowe; niece, Christine (Ken) Ettel, Prospect. She was predeceased by her husband, Capt. Anson B. Conrad, whom she was married to for 54 years; sister, Marion May Eliza (Rolffe) Coughran. There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request. Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2017 in St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Broad Cove, Rev. Oliver Osmond officiating with interment to follow in the Canadee Cemetery, Broad Cove. A reception will take place following the service in the Cherry Hill Fire Hall. Family flowers only please, donations may be made to St. Mark’s Anglican Church or charity of choice. We wish to thank the medical staff of South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater and the Victoria General Hospital sixth floor, Halifax for the care and comfort they provided to our mom.
