Obituary of Lucy Blackadar

Lucy M. Blackadar 87, of Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Bridgewater passed away December 9, 2001 in the manor. Born in Lunenburg, she was a daughter of the late Capt. William and Kate (Hirtle) Corkum. She graduated with a Home Economics degree from Mount Allison University and worked for a short time at the Royal Victorian Hospital as a dietician in Montreal. She spent her remaining years as a homemaker, taking pride in her family and making them wonderful meals. She was an avid reader, an antique collector and enjoyed her twice weekly bridge games with friends. She is survived by her daughter Bonnie Gautier, Pictou; sister Kaye Smith, Toronto and 2 cousins, Uda Lynch, New Glasgow and Betty Holland, Lunenburg. She was predeceased by her loving husband Don and a brother, Earle Corkum. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 1pm to 2 pm, after which, a memorial service will be held in Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater, Rev. Ivan Norton officiating. Burial will follow in the Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, memorials donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice through the funeral home or at www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
