Obituary of Lloyd Dykeman

Lloyd George Dykeman 85, Bridgewater, passed away August 11, 2003 in South Shore Regional Hospital. Born and educated in Saint John, N.B., he was a son of the late Orland S. and Iva M. (Orchard) Dykeman. He was well known as a manufacturer’s Agent having traveled widely in the Atlantic Provinces for many years. He was a veteran of the Second World War serving overseas with the Canadian Army Infantry Corp. he was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion branch #24, Bridgewater, Maritime Commercial Traveler’s Association; Luxor Shrine, Saint John; Acacia Lodge #39; and the Bridgewater Hand Gun Club. He was President of Lectro Sales Limited of Dartmouth. He is survived by his wife Margery, one son Derek of Toronto; three daughters, Patricia (Mrs. R. Schneider) Sardis, B.C.; Karen, Toronto, and Cheryl, Rothesay, N.B. Three stepsons, Gregory (Evelyn), Terry (Heather) and Geoffrey (Carol) Snyder, all of Bridgewater. Nine grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his sister Muriel of Saint John. He was predeceased by brother Hazen, sister Evelyn. Cremation has taken place. Visitation 7 – 8 p.m. Wednesday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater, where a public legion tribute service will be at 7 p.m. Memorial service 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Bridgewater United Church. Rev. Ivan Norton officiating. Interment in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Flowers from the immediate family only. Donations may be made to the Bridgewater United Church, South Shore Regional Hospital or charity of choice. A reception will follow in the C.E. Center of Bridgewater United Church.
