Obituary of Kathleen Hogg-Silvester

Kathleen (Nora) Leonora Hogg-Silvester 73, Middle LaHave, passed away peacefully July 4, 2003 at South Shore Regional Hospital. Born in Toronto, ON, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence William and Kathleen Scott (Merrin) Martingell. Both a medical and legal secretary, she worked for Parkwood Hospital (London), the Dalhousie Law School and lawyers in Toronto, London and most recently retired from working with Mr. Kendell Kenney in Bridgewater. A life member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Leonora was instrumental in starting the Omega Chapter in Bridgewater in 1976. She was a member and a licensed Lay Reader at St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church in Middle LaHave. In addition to her husband, John Cameron Silvester, and her sister June Elizabeth (Martingell) Patterson-Downe; she is survived by 2 sons, William Hogg (Teri) of Dartmouth, NS and Bruce Hogg (Gloria) of Minto, NB; 3 daughters, Janet MacGregor (Donald) of Ottawa, ON, Joyce Ley (Charles) of Bridgewater, NS and Kathie Wilson (Robbie) of London, ON; Step-Daughter Judi MacDonald (Vincent) of Bedford, NS. 10 grandchildren – Matthew, Christopher, and Cory Hogg; Brenna Harrington, JoDee McCaffrey, Andrew Harrington; Nicole and Jeffrey Hogg; Thomas and Robyn Ley. 8 step-grandchildren Shannon, Brendan, Caitlin and Meaghan MacDonald; Katie and Donnie MacGregor; Amanda and Connie Wilson. 3 great grandchildren - Curtis, Kierra and Camden McCaffrey and a step great grandson, Timmy Wilson. 2 Sisters-in-law, Edna Fenton of Coldbrook, NS and Lillian Seabright of Sudbury, ON. 2 Brothers-in-law Wentworth Hogg of Minden, ON, and Leslie Hogg of Whitby, ON. Several nieces and nephews. Leonora was predeceased by her first husband Arthur Hogg in 1975 and a grandson Adam Hogg in 2002. Resting at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Visitation on Monday, July7, 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held 2:30pm Tuesday, July 8 at St.Bartholomews Anglican Church, Middle LaHave , Rev David Dellapinna officiating. Interment following at Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. For those who wish, donations may be made to the South Shore Regional Hospital Foundation.
