Obituary of Olive Ritcey

Olive Myla Ritcey 83, Lower Branch, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Melbourne, Yarmouth Co., she was a daughter of the late Brandon and Genevieve (MacGray) Smith. She was a very active member of the Bridgewater United Church, Bridgewater, Senior Citizen’s Club, South Shore Regional Hospital Auxiliary to name a few. She loved flowers and creating floral arrangements. When she lived in Arcadia, she was involved in numerous community and church organizations. Surviving are husband Herbert; daughter, Donna Dawson, Scarborough, Ont.; son, Malcolm (Mary-Lou) Purdy, Tillsonburg, Ont.; sister, Joyce (Wilfred) Tinkham, Yarmouth. Five grandchildren, Craig Saulnier, Michael Dawson, Shannon Purdy, Matthew (Melanie) Purdy, Sara Purdy. Numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by first husband, George Dawson, second husband, Lionel Purdy. Sisters, Elva Cook, Lillian Forster, Elsie Fielding, Freda Churchill. Brothers, Donald, Fred, Clarke, Frank. Ashley “Buddy”. Visitation will be 7 – 9 p.m., Friday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Memorial service will be10:30 a.m., Saturday in Bridgewater United Church. Rev. Ivan Norton officiating, with a reception to follow in the church hall. Burial will be at a later date in the Arcadia Cemetery, Arcadia.
