Obituary of Edith Rogers

Edith Rebecca Rogers 86, Bridgewater, passed away suddenly March 22 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, following a lengthy illness. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Lorne and Rebecca (Ferguson) Weatherbee. Following her marriage in 1934, Edith and Lester moved to the Bridgewater area. She was a member of the Bridgewater United Baptist Church, and until her illness was active in the Evelyn Kenney Women's Missionary Society, Group Two and other church organizations. She was Past Noble Grand of Atlantic Rebekah Lodge #52. Edith was also a long-time member of the Bridgewater Golf and Country Club. She is survived by five sons and a daughter; Allen, Toronto; Conley (Carol) Lower Sackville; Lorne (Linda) Halifax; Paul (Cathy) Conquerall Bank, Lun. Co.; Philip (Wendy) Halifax; Susan Maunula (Stephen) Calgary. She will also be sadly missed by her 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Also survived by brother Herman (Dorothy) Truro; sisters Ethel O'Brien (Niagara Falls, Ont.); Eva Coulstring (Truro). She was predeceased by her husband Lester Rogers; brothers Murray, Foster and Hughie; sister Rita O'Brien. Visitation will be Wednesday March 26, 7 - 9 pm in Sweeny's Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater. Funeral service will be Thursday March 27, at 2pm in the Bridgewater United Baptist Church, with a reception to follow in the church auditorium. Burial in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater.
