Obituary of Barbara Selig

Barbara Edna (Barb) Selig Of Bridgewater, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2003 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, after a year long battle with Multiple Myeloma. Born January 16th, 1940 in Halifax, she was the daughter of Chester and Edna Smith, Hammond’s Plains, N. S. Barb was a tireless worker for her family, and loved helping others especially the elderly where she was employed at the Lunenburg County Home Support Care, resigning in September 2002 after 16 years. She loved to travel and enjoyed winter vacations in the Bahamas and Florida with her husband. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Bridgewater. She was a member of the Kinette/Kinsmen Service Clubs for many years and was Past President of the Halifax Kinette Club. Her life long hobbies were knitting, sewing and rug hooking and she made numerous things for her children and grand children. She loved crafts and kept her hands busy every spare moment. She ran a small ceramic studio from her home during the 70s teaching friends the art of this hobby. In her younger years she was a hairdresser. Barb was always a busy person, enjoying her cottage, her home and especially her family. She loved cooking and baking for family visits on weekends and vacations. She is also survived by her loving husband Don Selig, Bridgewater, sons Kevin (Margaret), Yarmouth, Glenn (Dorothy), Beaverbank, and Bradley (Kerry), Halifax, Grandchildren, Rachel and Nykola, Yarmouth, Joshua ,Emma and Matthew, Beaverbank, Austin and Luke, Halifax, sister Brenda, Bayfield, N.B. Brothers, Brian (Linda), Hammond’s Plains, Bruce (Dyanne), Gatineau, Quebec, Barry (Ruth), Yankeetown, N.S. Visitation will be 7-9 P. M. Thursday in Sweeny's Funeral Home, York St. Bridgewater. Funeral Service will be held 11am Friday at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Alexander Ave, Bridgewater, Archdeacon John Clarke officiating. Interment will be in the Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Family Flowers only, donations may be made to South Shore Regional Hospital or the V.O.N. services Lunenburg County Branch or charity of your choice.
