Obituary of Douglas Clements

Douglas Walter Clements 62, of Pine Grove, Lunenburg Co., passed away on November 30, 2004 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, surrounded by his wife, children and guardian angel, Mary Bennett. Born in Halifax, he was the youngest son of the late Walter and Rose Clements. Doug was a kind and gentle man, a loving husband, father and grandfather. He always had a ready smile and kind word for everyone he met. He will be fondly remembered, by family and friends, for his personable nature, sense of humor and kind and gentle spirit. Doug worked for many years in the optical business as an Optician. He later ventured into his own janitorial service. During his semi-retirement years, he enjoyed many nature walks with is wife and their trusty canine companion, Max. The past couple of years, he took great joy from planning and building the family cottage on Church Lake. He was an accomplished woodworker and spent many creative hours in his workshop, building just about anything including folk-art furniture, carved wooden decoys and an elaborate doll house for his granddaughter. Besides woodworking and gardening, he loved playing horseshoes and golfing as well as spending time with family and friend. He is survived by his wife, Crystal (Falle); son, Scott (Tabatha), Maitland; daughter, Tracey (Carson) Mader, Bridgewater, grandchildren, Brett Clements, Bradley Mader, Sydney Mader; brothers, Richard (Gladys), Brookside, Robert (Gwen), Upper Musquodoboit; sisters, Shirley (Ron) LePage, Dayspring; Marlene Breen (Peter), Dayspring; Doris Carr, Brookside; step sister, Shirley (Bobby) Boutilier, Glace Bay; step brother, Joey (Myrna) Hudder, Terrance Bay; sister in law, Gloria Jean Mahar, Goodwood. He was predeceased by his sister, June; step mother, Mary; step brother, Edward Mahar. Cremation has taken place. The family will received visitors from 2-4, 7- 9 p.m. on Friday, December 3 at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. A private committal service will take place at a later date. No flowers by request, Doug’s personal request was that individuals take a moment of their time and extend a kind helping hand to someone in need. Also, because of his great love of animals, donations may be made to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter or a charity of choice. On-line condolences may be made at www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
