Obituary of Irving Cooke

Irving McGregor Cooke 79, Maplewood, Lunenburg Co., passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2004 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Isaac’s Harbour, Guys. Co., he was a son of the late Tremaine and Lena (Langley) Cooke and foster parents, the late Elmer and Edith (Murtland) Kaulback. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the West Nova Scotia Regiment; member of Parkdale - Maplewood Emmanuel United Baptist Church; member of the IOOF Maple Lodge, Parkdale - Maplewood. Surviving are his children, son, Ted (Esther); daughters, Joan (Howard) Zwicker; Margaret (Emery) Wentzell, all of Maplewood. Granddaughters, Wendy (Keith) Ackerley, Tammy (Paul) Zwicker, Julie Zwicker, Anita (Steve) Hepditch, Kelly Wentzell, Amanda Cooke; grandson, Kyle Cooke; great grandson Lucas Vollicks. Sister, Irene Davis, Cape Breton; brothers, Charles, Milton, Queens Co.; Kenneth, B.C. Many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife the former Annie Cecelia Matthews; sisters, Zelma, Bertha; brothers, Frank and James. Visitation will be this evening, 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 route 10, New Germany. Funeral 2 p.m. Friday in Parkdale – Maplewood Emmanuel United Baptist Church, Parkdale. Jennifer Joudrey, Lic. Officiating. Private family burial will follow in the Parkdale Community Cemetery, Parkdale.
