Joseph Howard "Joe" Fultz
84 of Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co. has completed this life’s journey at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg. Born in Halifax, Joe was the only son of the late James and Annie (Mahar) Fultz. Growing up in the south end, he attended College Street School, St. Mary’s High School and College earning a B.A. 1944 and B.Com. 1946. After graduating he moved to Montreal and was the first lecturer in the Commerce Faculty at Loyola College before it became Concordia University. Upon returning to Halifax, Joe became involved in the tire business (which he loved) working as a manager of Super Tire Ltd. for nearly 20 years. In 1971 he moved to Bridgewater with his wife Ruth and their children. He worked at Good-Wear Treaders Ltd. as the purchasing agent until his retirement in 1989. Joe also taught night class in Bookkeeping and Accounting at Bridgewater High School for a number of years. Joe was a devout member of St. Joseph’s Parish, having served on the Parish Council as Financial Secretary for a number of years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree, and served as Charter Financial Secretary for thirty years for Council 6417. In 1997 he was awarded Honorary Life Membership in the Knights of Columbus. In 2005 a 2nd Degree ceremony was conducted in honor of S.K. Joseph H. Fultz at council 8671 in Halifax as an expression of appreciation for his service to the Order. Even with all of his involvements, Joe always had time for his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Ruth (Redmond); only daughter Mary Elaine, Mississauga ON; sons Joseph (Marilyn), West Berlin, Queens Co., John (Karen), Bridgewater; Stephen (Audrey) Truro; Peter (Mary Lee), Kingston, Kings Co.; and much loved grandchildren Joey, Brendan, Matthew, Emily, Caleb, Noah, Luke, and Tabitha. Joe was predeceased by his only sister Kathleen. Visitation, 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater, with prayers at 8 p.m. Funeral mass, 11 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Bridgewater. Father Andrzej Wojciechowski officiating. Burial in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Bridgewater.
