Obituary of George Mailman

George Karl Mailman 80, Hebbville, passed away Friday, May 21, 2004 in Q.E. II Health Science Center, Halifax. Born and educated in Bridgewater he was the son of the late Karl and Maude (Begin) Mailman. He served 40 years as an Locomotive Engineer on the C.N.R. He was a veteran of the Second World War having served in the R.C.A.F. the R.C.N.V.R. He was an honorary member of the Bridgewater Fire Department, member of the Royal Canadian Legion, branch 24, Bridgewater, life member of the Kinsman Club and a member of the K40. He at one time was secretary – treasurer and later vice chairman for Eastern Canada of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers. Surviving are his son, Carroll, Halifax; Kenneth, Hebbville. 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, sister Marjorie, Newcombville. He was predeceased by his wife Auralie and son Gary. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Monday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bridgewater. Rev. Mark Wagschal and Rev. Willis Ott officiating. Burial will following Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Bridgewater Fire Department, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or charity of choice.
