Obituary of Foster MacKay
Foster Reginald MacKay
79, Upper Northfield, passed away peacefully, Friday, October 29, 2004 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Upper Northfield he was the youngest son of the late Reginald and Mary (Demond) MacKay. He lived his entire life on his family's farm which he workedwith loving hands, raising cattle, tending to the fields and gardens, and being a good neighbour and friend. A kind-hearted soul, he never turned away requests for donations to many charities and generously shared with the less fortunate. He was a lifetime member of the Upper Northfield United Church. In failing health Foster has enjoyed visits from friends, and going out to community suppers and events. Although a confirmed bachelor, he adored children and was an honorary uncle to many. He will be sadly missed by all those children. He was the last living member of his immediate family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Ena Wentzell, Muriel Silver and Verna MacKay; an infant brother; and his brother-in-law Andrew Wentzell with whom he resided most of his life. Visitation for family and friends will be held 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral 2 p.m., Monday in Upper Northfield United Church, Rev. Joan Conrad officiating. Burial will follow in the Upper Northfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Upper Northfield United Church, Upper Northfield Cemetery or charity of choice.
