Obituary of Barbara McGrady

Barbara Anne McGrady

Passed away Friday, June 11, 2004 at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax at the age of 66. Born May 23, 1938, in Cardinal, Ontario, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Mae (Crawford) Owers. Barb moved “home” with her late husband in September 1976. She worked many jobs throughout her life but one position that was close to her heart and from her heart was her volunteering with the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia. Barb was predeceased by her husband, Bob McGrady; brothers, Bernie Owers; Donald Owers. Barb is survived by her three children, Kathy (Chris), Patti (Terry); Greg (Peggy) and her five grandchildren, Patrick, Ryan, Megan, Emily and Rebecca. Sister Pat (Gerald) Ferguson, brother Tom (Barb) Owers and numerous nieces and nephews, in Ontario and England. She adored and was adored by her grandchildren. She would be there to help when the need arose and she was feisty with a sharp sense of humour right to the very end. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater and where funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, Rev. Willis Ott officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Princess Margaret Hospital – Weekend to End Breast Cancer, Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or the charity of your choice.
