Obituary of Dolly Newcomb

Dolly Georginia Evangeline Newcomb 84, Dublin Shore and Ontario, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Friday, March 12, 2004 in Oakwood Terrace, Dartmouth. Born in Dublin Shore, she was a daughter of the late Capt. James and Elfrida (Bell) Publicover. Dolly had a unique childhood sailing each summer on her father’s vessels with her family. Dolly was a valuable member of her community, volunteering for many years as a Sunday school superintendent and church organist. After Bob’s retirement, they returned to the family home in Dublin Shore where Dolly fulfilled a lifelong ambition of writing a book, “Steady as She Goes”, about her families place in marine history. Surviving are daughters, Alleyne (David) Penney, Dartmouth; Christine (Tim) Perron, Halifax. Sons, Bob (Deborah) Newcomb, Hubley; John (Annette) Newcomb, California. 9 Grandchildren, Bethany, Laura, Gregory; Victoria, Sarah; Pamela, Benjamin; Jessica, Adrian.
