Obituary of Sheila Owen

Sheila Timperley Owen Of Bridgewater, age 86, of Dayspring died Monday March 29, 2004 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. She was born in Altrincham UK, the daughter of the late John Leed and Nellie Watters. She trained as a teacher at the University College of Wales, Bangor and at Liverpool University and taught for a number of years. During WWII she served as an Air Raid Warden from 1940. She had a long association with the British Red Cross Society as a nursing volunteer, first aid worker, instructor and county director for Youth and Juniors. She was a volunteer and a prolific donor for the UK National Blood transfusion Service. She was on the teaching staff of the Girls Outward Bound School, N. Wales for a number of years. Much of her married life was spent assisting her husband in various parishes in N. Wales. She emigrated to Stellarton, Pictou Co. in 1981.She was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, the Revd. Tuddyd Owen and by a son, Neil. She is survived by her son, Stephen (Shelley) Owen and grandchildren Nicola (Owen) Woollaston, Richard, Sarah, Christopher and Thomas, and by her great-granddaughter Emily. Her remains have been cremated. There will be no visitation. There will be a public Memorial Service at 2 p.m. on Saturday April 3 at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Bridgewater. Interment of the ashes will be at a later date in North Wales. Family flowers only.
