Obituary of Marion Penney

Marion Louise Penney Family, friends and neighbors were deeply saddened by the recent passing of one of Barss Corners long-time, special persons. She spent her entire life in Barss Corner, where she was a member of Barss Corner United Baptist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary and the Women's Missionary Society. Marion passed away peacefully, Sunday, February 15, 2004, in the ICU of South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Scarsdale, May 28, 1922, she was the youngest daughter of the late Milton and Lola (Wentzell) Spidle. She married Roger Hallet Penney and together they raised five children. She leaves behind a heart broken family of sons, Noel (Heather), New Ross; Rodger (Carol), Ronald (Dale), both of Barss Corner; daughters, Alice (William) Leary, New Germany; Ann, Barss Corner with whom she had been residing and who had cared for her Mom for the past six months; brother, Merlin Spidle, Barss Corner; 12 grandchildren, nine great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Roger; one son in infancy; sisters, Ruth Silver, Jessie Bell. Visitation for family and friends will be 2-4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Tuesday in Sweeny's Funeral Home, 4895 Rte. 10, New Germany. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in Barss Corner United Baptist Church, Barss Corner, Jennifer Joudrey Lic. and Rev. Vaughn Henshaw officiating. Burial to follow in Barss Corner Community Cemetery. No flowers by request of the family. Donations to the Barss Corner Community Cemetery, Barss Corner Community Hall or War Amps Champs.
