Obituary of Alma Ritcey
Alma Marjorie Ritcey
82, Bridgewater, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater on Saturday, January 24, 2004. Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Alma relocated to Bridgewater in 1974, and quickly formed a close circle of friends. She was a member of the Bridgewater United Church. A passion in her life was Bridge, where she attained the ranking of Master. Alma was an active and driving force of the Bridgewater Duplicate Bridge Club, serving in many capacities over the years. An avid golfer, she seldom missed an opportunity to play at the Bridgewater Golf and Country Club. Predeceased by her husband, of 51 years, Alec H. Ritcey, and her brother, Ray Hayward. She leaves to mourn sons, Robert, James and wife Carol (White) and grandson, Nicholas, Halifax; Geoffrey and wife Susan (DesRoches) and granddaughters Caroline and Stephanie, Oakville, Ontario; twin sister Mabel Chafe, St. John’s Newfoundland and nieces Barbara Mosher (Chafe), St. John’s, Newfoundland and Nancy Jewers (Chafe), Halifax; sister-in-law Joan Hayward (Daw), Edmonton, and her many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in Bridgewater United Church at 4 p.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2004. Reverend Ivan Norton, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.
