Obituary of Burpee Slauenwhite

Burpee Lee Slauenwhite 81, Stanburne, Lunenburg Co., passed away, December 29, 2004 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Stanburne, he was the son of the late Clarence and Cora (Veinot) Slauenwhite. He was a member of St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany. During his working years, he was a carpenter, farmer, and Christmas tree producer and continued growing trees after retirement; he was very proud of his tree lot. As a young man, he enlisted in the Canadian Army and trained in Vancouver. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, branch 102, New Germany and enjoyed camping in the summertime with his wife and meeting many new friends on their travels. Surviving are his wife the former Mae Pearlene Oickle; sons, Robert (Laverne), Margaretsville; Herbert (Dianne), Wentzell Lake. Grandchildren, Derek (Jessica), Colin; Tanya (Blake) Johnson, Shane. Brother, Pearlie (Ella), Stanburne. Many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Harley; sisters, Beatrice Taylor, Evelyn Slauenwhite; brother, Joseph. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today (Thursday) in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, New Germany. Funeral 11 a.m. Friday in St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany. Rev. Tom Henderson officiating, burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made St. John’s Anglican Church or charity of choice.
