Obituary of Charles Swaine

Charles Herbert Swaine 77 of Bridgewater, NS formerly of Yarmouth passed away January 25, 2004 at the Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany. Son of Mae (Swaine) Simmons and step father Clayton Simmons. Herb spent 41 year working for the Canadian National Railways ending his career as Roadmaster in Bridgewater. He is survived by his wife Arlene, son David (Jackie) Bridgewater; Brother Fred “Buster” (Margaret), Maine; Sister Barbara, Arizona and granddaughters Kyleigh & Katie, Bridgewater; nieces, nephews and family from Yarmouth Co. Known for his sharp wit and amazing sense of humor, Herb was well known in the community and around his beloved cottage in Ponhook. Herb loved hunting, fishing, gardening as well as carpentry work. He enjoyed variety shows and was especially fond of Hank Snow. Herb was a longtime member of St. Josephs Parish; his memorial service will take place Wednesday at 9:00am at St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church, Bridgewater. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.
