Obituary of Blanche Belliveau

Blanche M. Belliveau Bridgewater. After 87 years of lighting up this world her love, music, faith, generosity and effervescent smile, Blanche M. (Dugas) Belliveau has left us. If Blanche’s middle initial “M” was to stand for anything, it would be “mother”. She dedicated her life to being a wonderful mother to Judy Comeau (Bill Savoie), Yvonne Rafuse (Laurie), and as wife to her beloved Louis (deceased) her husband of 63 years, and did that to perfection. Every grandmother should emulate the love she showed as “Nana” to Jeff Comeau (Joanne), Jill (Rafuse) Wagner (Chris), and Daniel Rafuse; and to great grandchildren Noah and Zoe Comeau, and Luke Wagner. If her middle initial “M” had yet another meaning, it would be “music”. Her life and her home were filled with music. Blanche gave of her talents, as she did of her love and kindness, with heartfelt generosity. She was a devout Catholic actively involved in church activities, including singing in the choir. At age eight, Blanche played the organ in church for the first time, in Doucetteville, the village of her birth. She devoted many years as a volunteer, working on various church committees and canvassing for charities. Most importantly, Blanche brought her life-long joy of music to the elderly, both playing with her music group The Olde Tyme Merrie Makers, and each Sunday, when she could be found on her own, bringing cheer to the residents in any one of the local nursing homes. It was for her dedication to others that she was named “Christmas Angel” in 1998. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her, but especially her last surviving sister Emma Golden, brother Ron (Louise) Dugas and dearly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own. A celebration of Blanche’s life will take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bridgewater on Saturday, December 10 at 1 p.m. A reception will follow in the Parish Centre, with a private family interment at a later date If desired, charitable donations may be made to the South Shore Regional School Board in the memory of Blanche Belliveau where all funds will be awarded to individual students’ for their musical endeavors; or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater, where on line condolences may be made at www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
