Obituary of Barbara Jean Joyce

of Barbara Jean Joyce Of LaHave, Lunenburg County, NS. Born in Botwood, NF, in 1948, she passed away peacefully at home on August 20 after a strong battle with cancer that didn't cheat her of enjoying her family and friends throughout the journey. Barb was always active and involved with her community ranging from school activities during Tricia's formative years, stitching with the Cathedral Women in Halifax and the Armcrescent Bridge League to serving as church treasurer in LaHave, a member of the LaHave Fire Department Auxiliary, the LaHave River Quilters and the Historical Society. She was a talented craftsperson who painted, stitched, did calligraphy, a superb cook, a wonderful Mother and Grandmother and linguist who seldom failed to complete a New York Times crossword puzzle within 15 minutes. She was the daughter of Mrs. Maisie Rowe, Corner Brook, NF and the late Dr. W.D. Rowe. She is survived and will be tremendously missed by her husband Dick in LaHave; her daughter Tricia (Simon) Brassington, Stourport-on-Severn, England; her mother Maisie in Corner Brook, NF; brother Allan (Heather) Rowe, Bedford, NS; brother John (and partner Patricia) Rowe, Singapore; grandson Sam Brassington and granddaughter Eva Brassington; nieces and nephews; Andrew, Michael and Richard Joyce and Duncan, Gillian and Emily Rowe and her best friend Szivi. There will be a service to celebrate Barb's life at St. James Anglican Church, LaHave at 11 AM on Wednesday, August 27th, Rev. David Phillips officiating. There will be no visitation or flowers by request. Donations in Barb`s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. On-line condolences may be made by visiting www.sweenysfuneralhome.com
