Obituary of Graeme Gladwin

Graeme Arthur Gladwin 62, Bridgewater. It is with sadness that wife Barbara and sons, Adrian (Angela) Fancy Lake, and Adam (Christine) Bridgewater, announce the passing of a loving husband and father on August 11, 2005. Graeme was the son of the late Arthur and Lillian “Diddi” (Richardson) of Timberlea and Bridgewater. He was a devoted family man and friend who found pleasure in helping those he loved. Grampy Gladwin will be sadly missed by his very special grandchildren Faith, Zachary, Bailey and Addison. Graeme is also survived by sisters Judi Ayoub, Ottawa; Debbi, Halifax; Kerry (Dan) Daly, Halifax; Mikki Carr, Timberlea; Linda, Halifax; Robyn(Stephen) Harding, Timberlea; and brother Skip (Angela), Halifax. In addition to his parents, Graeme was predeceased by his brother Wayne, and sister -in -law, Heather, Halifax; brothers-in-law, Cliff Carr, Halifax and Edward Ayoub, Ottawa. Prior to retiring in 2004, Graeme enjoyed two distinct and rewarding careers; he completed 17 years of service with the Province of Nova Scotia as a driver improvement officer serving the Towns of Bridgewater, Liverpool, Shelburne, Yarmouth and Digby. Then in 1976 he and his wife Barb, in partnership with their long time friend and business associate Gary Burgoyne, owned and operated The Little Red Restaurant and The Peter Boy Family Restaurant, Bridgewater; The Red Buoy Restaurant, Mahone Bay; and three Pizza Delight Franchises located in Bridgewater, Digby and Truro, Nova Scotia. Graeme was also actively involved in his community having served as a member of the Bridgewater Kinsmen and K-40 clubs, the Bridgewater Police Commission, the Bridgewater Development Commission, and the South Shore Exhibition Commission. He also enjoyed the fellowship offered as a member of the Osprey Ridge Golf Club, the Bridgewater Curling Club, and the LaHave River Yacht Club. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Bridgewater, Rev. Monsignor William Wamboldt officiating. A reception will be held at the Parish Center immediately following the service. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater with a private internment of ashes to be held at a later date at Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater.
