Obituary of Gary Johnson

Gary "Doc" Scott Johnson 56, of Bridgewater, Lunenburg County, passed away quietly at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater on November 10, 2005. Born in Digby, he was the son of the late Ralph Scott and Lillian Ruth (Munroe) Johnson. Surviving are his only daughter, Nicole, Halifax, the utter joy of Gary’s life; two-step sons; a brother, Douglas (Cathy), Bridgewater; two sisters, Marilyn (Daniel) Lavoie, Quebec; Valerie R. (Jacob) Hope, Calgary, Alberta; foster sister, Rosetta (Allen) Dunn, South Waterford, Kings County; nieces and nephews. Most of his working career was spent in his own roofing and siding company. He was an avid golfer and member of the Digby Pines Golf Course. Often Gary, Doug and Dad could be seen all together in tournaments. Gary has spent many years in Alcohol Anonymous, encouraging others in honesty and love. He has been a constant inspiration to those near and during his fight with cancer one thing remained a shiny thread dear to him. He has remained sober throughout all of this and holds his head high. His last wishes are to tell others to keep on going and never give up, a legacy to those who love him. Gary’s family wishes to thank the Palliative Care Staff and the nurses on 4th floor, Dr. Livingstone and Dr. Abriel and everyone for their many prayers. Funeral service 1pm Sunday in Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater on November 13th, 2005. Family flowers only please; interment in Calgary with Sis Valerie at a later date. Donations in Gary’s memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made at www.sweenysfuneralhome.com. God bless Doc.
