Obituary of Ira Langille

Ira Roy Langille 86, New Germany, Lunenburg County, passed away as a result of a stroke on Friday, August 5, 2005 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born on May 3, 1919, he was a son of the late Moody and Beatrice (Allen) Langille. Ira lived most of his life in Barss Corner and New Germany. In 1942 he went to Halifax where he obtained his apprenticeship in carpentry and where he stayed to work until he returned home to manage the family farm several years later. He also worked for MacKay Saw Mill, New Germany for 17 years and then continued his employment with Fielding and Wynn until 1984 until he retired. Ira was a lifelong active member of the Barss Corner Baptist Church, Barss Corner, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was a member and past master of Hillcrest Masonic Lodge #93, New Germany. He served as a Municipal Councilor for a number of terms where he worked for the municipality and school board. Ira was an active volunteer serving on the Board of Directors of LaHave Manor Corporation, Dayspring and Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany. He was a provincially appointed surveyor for Lunenburg County and was the 1990 recipient of the Community W.A.Y.S. Award. Ira was a devoted family man, having married the former Dorothy Jean Lantz on December 21, 1940 and together had two daughters, Jacqueline Anne Eisener, Barss Corner; Sharill Sylvia Joudrey (Ronald Scoffield), New Germany. Grandchildren, Trudy Joudrey (Bill Taylor), Enfield; Duane (Kathleen) Eisener, New Germany; Lindsay Eisener, New Brunswick; Crystal (Stanley) Leary, Royden (Tina) Eisener, both of Stanburne; Wesley (Nadine) Eisener, New Germany; Tanya (Stephen) Spellman, Halifax; Barbara (Kelly) Conrad, Conquerall Banks; Nathan Eisener, Barss Corner; Aaron Eisener, Yellowknife; Roy Tufts, Barss Corner; 17 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews and many others that knew him as Grampie; a brother, Howard Lemuel Langille, Scarsdale. He was predeceased by his parents and sons in law, Oakley Joudrey and Eldred Eisener; grandson, Sheldon Eisener. Visitation 7 – 9 p.m. today (Monday) in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 route 10, New Germany where a Masonic memorial service will be at 6:45 p.m. Funeral service 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, in Barss Corner United Baptist Church, Barss Corner. Rev. Vaughn Henshaw officiating. Private family burial to follow in Indian Brook Cemetery, Barss Corner.
