Obituary of Margaret Rafuse

Margaret Madeline Marie (Matthews) Rafuse 87, wife of the late Leslie John M. Rafuse of East Dalhousie, passed away on June 9, 2005 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in East Dalhousie, she was the daughter of the late J. Harry and Theresa E. (Aalders) Matthews. She was a member of St. Brigid’s Roman Catholic Church, East Dalhousie. She operated Rafuse Groceries Store from her home since 1950. She was a foster mother to several children. Surviving are her brother, Henry (Beatrice) Matthews, East Dalhousie; nieces, Joan (Howard) Zwicker, Margaret (Emery) Wentzell all of Maplewood; nephews, Richmond (Diane) Matthews; Anthony (Roxanne) Matthews, all of Dartmouth; Theodore Cooke, Maplewood; foster grandchildren, Blair and Julie DeBaie, New Germany. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Leslie, sister, Annie Cooke and foster son, Blair DeBaie. Visitation 2 – 4 p.m. Sunday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 route 10, New Germany. Funeral mass 11 a.m. Monday in St. Brigid’s Roman Catholic Church, East Dalhousie. Father Gerald Saulnier officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
