Obituary of Lawrence Bone

Rev. Lawrence "Bud" Wallace Bone Middle LaHave, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, passed away May 14, 2006 in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born on November 29, 1927, he was a son of the late Nicholas and Clara (Magee) Bone. Lawrence was a graduate of Moncton High School (Valedictorian), Mount Allison University in 1952 (B.A.) (Manager of Varsity Football Team), Pine Hill Divinity Hall (M. Div.). He was ordained a minister of the United Church of Canada in 1954. He served in student mission fields in Bright-Sands-Cleeves Sask., Miscou Island, Scotch Colony and McKee’s Mills, all in New Brunswick. He served pastoral charges in Scotch Colony, Salisbury, Assist. Min. St. John’s United in Moncton, Florenceville, New Brunswick, Kirk-McColl in St. Stephen, New Brunswick and United Memorial in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he was honored as Minister Emeritus upon his retirement. Lawrence was a member of Halifax Presbytery and Maritime Conference, obtained the rank of Captain with RCAF (Supp. Reserve) and served as Chaplain, Past Chaplain of RCL Scotia Branch 25, member of Air Force Mic Mac Wing 111, Past Grand Chaplain New Brunswick, member of Masonic Lodge, Scottish rite and Philae Shriners in Nova Scotia. In early years, Lawrence was a member of Lions, Rotary and Curling Clubs. He enjoyed sailing, traveling, real estate and hunting. He was a member of Bluenose Seniors Club, Dayspring Seniors Club and Rhodes Corner Card Club, member of the Male Choir of Zion Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Beulah Pauline Bone; sons, Stephen (Jeannie), David (Lori) all from St. Stephen, New Brunswick; daughter, Brenda (Keith) White, Australia; brother, Wallis (Daisy); sisters in law, Jean Bone and Nan Leger; brother in law, Gordon Mann (Linda), grandchildren, Stephanie and Michael Bone, Paul and Celia White, step daughter, Paula Berringer and her sons, Zackary and Cody, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jean Betty (Mann) Bone; infant son Wayne; brothers Fred and Ralph Bone. No visitation by request. A memorial service will be held 2pm Thursday, May 18 in Bridgewater United Church, Rev Ivan Norton officiating with a reception to follow in the church hall. A private family intermit will be held in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens in Moncton, New Brunswick. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shaid Animal Shelter or the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
