Obituary of Hazel Christie
Hazel Marie Christie (Pentz)
81, Petite Riviere, formerly of LaHave & Vancouver, passed away peacefully at Happy Haven. Born in LaHave, June 8, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Capt Gabriel and Blanche (Hirtle) Pentz. She attended school in LaHave and in 1943, graduated from Mount Allison Commercial College receiving a diploma in stenography. She used her secretarial skills, first at War Assets Corporation, Moncton, and, then for many years at West Coast Woolen Mills in Vancouver. She returned home to LaHave to spend her the last several years with her family. Throughout her life, Hazel enjoyed her music and her knitting & cross stitch; traveling with her husband, her summer trips back home to LaHave and several trips with family to Australia. Her life was a full one, she always had a smile and appreciated life wherever she was, from Vancouver to LaHave." She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She will be fondly remembered by her nieces & nephews – Nancy (Jim) Ringland, Australia; Ruth (Cameron) Seamone, Bridgewater; David (Paula) Himmelman, Pleasantville; Brian (Sharon) Pentz, Dartmouth; Heather Anne Pentz, Halifax; and sister-in-law, Monica Pentz, LaHave. She was predeceased by her husband, Murray Hudson (Chris); brothers, Harold, Everett; sisters, Greta (Himmelman) and Mildred ‘Claire’, in infancy. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Friday, April 7, West Side United Church, Pentz, officiated by Rev. Neil McEwen with reception following at the church hall. No visitation. Cremation has taken place. Internment will be held at a later date at Fort Point Cemetery, LaHave. Arrangements are under the direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home.
