Obituary of Charles Joudrey

Charles Lindburg "Chummie" Joudrey 74, New Germany. It is with sad hearts that his children announce the passing of a very “special Dad”, Charles Lindburg Joudrey “Chummie” on April 15, 2006 at Queen’s Manor, Liverpool, with his children by his side. Born August 19, 1931 in Stanley Section, Lunenburg Country, he was the son of the late Robert and Annie Mae (Wilson) Joudrey. Chummie began work at the young age of 14 as a woodsman; later helping by being a cook at both Rossignol and Bowater Sawmills, Tantallon. In 1965, with the opening of Bowater Sawmill in Oakhill, he transferred, where he was night watchman until he retired in 1992. Chummie enjoyed bluegrass music, bingo, cooking, baking and spending time in his garden as well as playing practical jokes and spending time with his grandchildren. Chummie was a member of the St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany. Surviving are his children, daughter, Shelley (Jeff) Langille, Barss Corner; son, Avan (Lisa) Joudrey, New Germany; daughter, Mercedis (Paul) MacKinnon, Upper Branch. He was Grampie Joudrey to Rachel Langille (James Uhlman), Dartmouth; Jessica Langille, Barss Corner. He was Papa to Michelle Dawn “The Cook”, Upper Branch; Emma and Alex “The Boy” Joudrey, New Germany. Visitation 7 – 9 p.m. Monday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 route 10, New Germany. Funeral 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church. Rev. Catherine Robar officiating. Burial will follow in Epworth Cemetery, New Germany. Family flowers only, donations to New Germany and Area Medical Centre, St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, Queen’s Manor or charity of choice.
