Obituary of Boyd Oickle

Boyd Rex Oickle 59, Of Cookville, Lunenburg County, passed away suddenly February 2, 2006 at home. He was a well known man for his contribution to public service as a Bridgewater letter carrier for 34 years. He enjoyed participating in many sports over the years and was instrumental in the development of horseshoe pitching along the South Shore as a founding member of the South Shore Horseshoe Pitchers Association. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying his gardens, hunting and four-wheeling as a member of Bull Run Trail Association and Central Nova ATV Club. He was a beloved husband to Karen (Eichel) for 35 years; devoted father to daughters, Lisa, Bridgewater; Tracey (Wade), Pine Grove; a very special “Bampy” to grandchildren, Hayley, Colin and Kendra. Brothers, Greg (Stephanie), Bridgewater; Bradford (Janet), Maitland; Larry, Pleasantville; mother in law, Ruby, Bridgewater; brother in law, Wayne (Debby), Bridgewater; sister in law, Diane, Rhodes Corner; several nieces and nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents Annie and Rex Oickle; half brother, Theodore; father in law, Douglas; brother in law, David; nephew, Corey. As his wishes, cremation has taken place with visitation from 7-9 p.m. Monday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater, and where memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. William Gustafson officiating. Interment of cremated remains to take place following the service at Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Bull Run Trail Association, Brain Injury Association of Nova Scotia, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or charity of your choice.
