Obituary of Lawson Arenburg
Lawson George Arenburg
90, Wileville, passed away Wednesday April 4, 2007 at the Veterans Unit of Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born July 12, 1916, in Midville Branch, he was the son of the late George and Ella (Wentzell) Arenburg. Lawson began his career as a young boy picking apples in Annapolis Valley; he was a veteran of the Second World War having served as a gunner. After the war he worked at occupations such as a trucker for Irving Oil, Bridgewater Dairy and long haul for a Fertilizer company. Just before retiring, he worked in the stock room at the Department of Transportation. After retiring he still enjoyed his drives and summers at Ponhook Lake. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Hilda Arenburg (DeLong), son Carroll (Audrey); daughter Bridget (Wesley) Uhlman; son Andrew (Patti); daughter Jannette (Wayne) Joudrey; son Barry (Kim) 5 grandchildren, Jonathan (Kathy), Matthew, Andrea, Nicole and Cody; one great grandchild Dylan Uhlman; brother Oscar (Phyllis) Arenburg and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Lawson was predeceased by his sisters Myrtle Arenburg, Mildred and her husband Herman Wentzell. Cremation has taken place, visitation will be held today (Friday) from 7 to 9pm in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater with a public Legion tribute service at 7pm and from where the memorial service will be held 11am Saturday, Rev. Paul Jensen officiating. Immediate family flowers only, memorial donation may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of choice.
